Nikon F5, F100 and F6
Just a size comparison of the Nikon F5, the Nikon F100 and Nikon F6.
The F6 succeeded the F5 as the top Nikon film camera, which makes the F6 the world’s top 35mm SLR (IMHO). I always liked the F100 better than the F5 – the F6 feels like an upgraded F100.

bad weather & tri-x
some pictures i took yesterday during bad weather. Leica M7/35mm Summicron and Kodak Tri-X

MYFEST – Berlin Kreuzberg – batch 2
Second (and analog) batch
- Leica R8/50mm Summicron/Tri-X & XTOL -

Berlin, Prenzlauer Berg
I have been taking pictures in Berlin’s Prenzlauer Berg district last weekend. It is very, very rare that i shoot in East-Berlin – Normally i try to avoid going there if possible. This time it actually was pretty cool, maybe because it was the first sunny day after a long winter.
All shots are done with a Leica M2/35mm Summicron ASPH using Tri-X@400 developed in XTOL. My M6 is still not back from CLA and only god knows when the M9 will arrive.

from the archive
Due to bad weather here in Berlin there was almost no chance of taking any new pictures. Instead i browsed my archives from 2007 & 2008 where i found some pictures i didn’t post so far. Hope you like them.

in search of the ‘tri-x look’
I am currently experimenting with bw conversion tools for pictures taken with the D700. So far i like the results i get from ‘Alien Skin’ the most. (Though i still think it’s a bit weird to use cameras and software worth a few thousands euros, to simulate a look i get from a simple roll of Tri-X without any further effort.)

Fuji Provia 100F
First time in months i scanned color slides. I really must say that the colors coming from Fuji Provia are just marvellous. Too bad using slide film is so expensive. BTW: I took these pictures with the Nikon F100 and the brand new AF-S 50mm 1.4 – a very nice combination.

Fuji Acros 100 in bright sunlight

Just wanted to note how satisfied i am with using Fuji Acros 100 when used in bright sunlight…
Neopan 400 / Tri-X 400

After a short time of using Neopan 400 i switched back to Tri-X. There’s no doubt that Neopan provides far better details but in the end i simply prefer the Tri-X look for the kind of pictures i do.
The picture above was done with a Leica M2 i acquired last year. I don’t use it very often which is a shame as this camera handles so much better than the M6. The only downside is that it does not have a builtin lightmeter which is something i shouldn’t worry about too much. I did the last the 3 rolls by guessing the settings and each single frame was exposed perfectly.
scanning Fuji Velvia
[Gallery not found]A couple of Fuji Velvia shots i did with my Leica M6. For scanning i used the Nikon Coolscan V ED. The colors look so much better than everything i get out of my Epson V700.
