I have been taking pictures in Berlin’s Prenzlauer Berg district last weekend. It is very, very rare that i shoot in East-Berlin – Normally i try to avoid going there if possible. This time it actually was pretty cool, maybe because it was the first sunny day after a long winter.
All shots are done with a Leica M2/35mm Summicron ASPH using Tri-X@400 developed in XTOL. My M6 is still not back from CLA and only god knows when the M9 will arrive.

Your street photography is so incredible. Really inspirational. I’m on tumblr. I wish you had tumblr account so I could follow you on there (which is easy) but I’ll be coming to this website for sure to check out your future work!!! I’m only an aspiring “street” photographer in NYC. Trying to do my part in capturing this amazing city. So great work! Respect! :)

Olga, thanks a lot for your kind words NYC is by far the best city for street photography, have fun! Guido
why do you avoid East Berlin? Seems to be it’s more interesting than the West.
When I’m on the streets, I am always in search of interesting subjects. I usually find these types of subjects in West Berlin districts. When I wrote that I don’t like going east, I was referring to districts like Prenzlauer Berg or Friedrichshain. I am well aware of the popularity of these areas by young people, but this is also what makes them boring in a certain way. If you spend some time there, you will notice that people all look alike; they wear the same type of clothes and they are mostly between 20-40 years old; elderly people are virtually non-existent. Personally, I prefer to shoot in classic West Berlin districts like Charlottenburg, Kreuzberg or Neukölln as I believe they are far more balanced in terms of their population.
in generally i wouldn´t avoid taking pictures in the east of berlin, only in fhain, mitte und pberg i would not take pictures because these 3 areas are unreal and boring
