I've used the Nikon FA which is a fantastic camera and produce an exellent result. Although I wouldn't rate as the best Nikon manual as been described sometime.
In my view and experiece is the Nikon F2 together with all it's own version. It's more reliable and plenty features to chooce iclude accessories as well.
Nikon FM3a will be as high as F2 or even more considering that the camera can work without batteries at all shutter speeds.
But the beauty of any Nikon cameras that makes so preferable are the Nikon lenses which for me are the best optic of quality made. Nikon flashes are an exellent piece of equipment done by Nikon too.

Thomas, the FA is a good choice for SP. The FA shutter is the most silent one of all Nikon manual SLR. Cheers, Guido

Actually I just purchased this camera used and in mint condition for $200 dollars and really looking forward to using it. I'm only gonna get the 50 1.4 and using it for B&W and portraits/street photography. Everything else will be my canon 40D. Originally I wanted an F2A but they were just too expensive for one in stellar condition. I'll have more to say after a month or two of practical use. Great photo of the FA!!

I also have Nikon Fa and use it with a small zoom and 50mm f/1.2 lens.
But I do not use it very often.
It is a very nice camera
